ITF and ETF
European Transport Workers Federation (ETF) is a new European trade union organization uniting trade unions of transport workers in the European Union, European Economic Zone and Central and Eastern European countries. The Federation’s headquarters is in Brussels. Trade unions uniting railway, motor and sea transport, ports and docks, internal water transport, civil aviation, fishing industry and tourism workers entered into the ETF.
ETF represents about three million people from 39 European countries. Carrying out its activity within the framework of the international solidarity, ETF works as a European regional ITF bureau and as a transport federation within the European Trade Union Confederation. It represents and protects interests of transport workers from all the European countries.
Apart from that, it forms and coordinates transport and social policy of trade unions, ensures concurrency of strikes movement, provides education and professional training, carries out scientific research in a wide range of issues (operational safety and health protection, employment). ETF is also a recognized social partner in the European social dialogue, where it represents interests of transport workers from all over Europe in negotiations with the European Committee and EU Council of Ministers.
